On the day the world died, people stopped wishing for anything.

Suddenly, the world came under the rule of non-human beings known as the Armored Beasts.
Humans, who once ruled the world, were oppressed by them and stripped of their rights. Hachi is a young man kept as a pet by one of the Armored Beasts, Galladre.
