Soulspire

Erik (renamable) and his childhood friend Dawn are recent graduates of an Elven magic university. To their mutual dismay, despite whatever plans they might have had, they are both sent to a remote university specializing in soul magic.

On their way, they encounter a Princess trapped in a summoning circle connected to Hel. While they manage to save her, it leaves Erik weakened, the princess partially possessed by a demon, and all three of them trapped in a strange building that resists any efforts on their parts to cast spells located somewhere in the Lost City.
