You receive a letter on your 20th birthday.
There's no name in the sender's field, but in the address field was the name of the village where you were born.

In the letter it says: "Now that you’ve turned 20, we would like you to attend the coming-of-age ceremony in the village." The village where you were born was supposed to have been buried away by eruption when you were a child. You know you're not supposed to go there - in your head you understand that- and yet, as if being drawn in, you begin to head toward it.
