January 1989: Meteor, a young man from Salt Lake City, made a difficult decision: to sell the camera his mother had given him for his birthday. The successive loss of both parents had left his home devoid of warmth, and the beautiful promise of witnessing the aurora together in SnowTown had vanished like a dream. Facing the future, he felt an unprecedented sense of confusion.

Home was no longer safe. Facing threats from his stepfather, Meteor had no choice but to flee the broken household. Guided by the lodestar, a symbol of his mother’s will, he set out resolutely toward the north. Ahead lay the unknown. Would he encounter harsh cold or kindness from strangers?
