The world is in a state of instability at the end of the century because of this terrible prophecy and many eerie rumors.
People are looking for a "savior" as a source of spiritual support, and various new groups have sprung up all over the country.

This incident took place in early July, the month of the prophecy. It begins with the discovery of a man's body in a river in Marihama-dai. The man was a leader of a certain new religion, and at first it was thought that the murder was caused by trouble with that religion. However, a "black card" discovered at the same time as the body leads to a huge conspiracy lurking behind the scenes...
