Square One

Caitlin Price has never been able to walk away from someone in trouble, even when her impulsive acts of kindness come at a cost. Perhaps that’s why, when she notices a strange girl about to leap toward the train tracks, she can’t stop herself from intervening.

Much to her surprise, her damsel in distress is not at all grateful for being saved. Caitlin only catches a glimpse of shockingly violet eyes glaring back at her before the girl runs away in tears. The girl far out of sight, Caitlin bends down to retrieve the only evidence left of the encounter: a silver smartphone, fallen from the pocket of the vanished girl.
