A teenager that lives by himself in the town of Tokieda, with his closest living relative being his grandfather, an author and researcher of the paranormal. Our protagonist has the peculiar ability to recognize supernatural beings with ease as well as the ability to see ghosts and other entities not visible to normal humans. Due to a complicated set of circumstances, Keiji has a strong hatred for ghosts and phantoms (also known as youkai), blaming them for the problems in his life. Keiji's life has taken a bit of a downturn since the death of his parents, and he is generally seen as a loner that makes little effort to interact with others. [From Moroboshi Yuumei's review]
