The game confirms that Hikari Kobayashi has been promoted to captain of the FSS Iron Duke. This promotion was likely implemented by Serena on Dario order's. Although, it is also noted that Hikari has an illustrous pre-brainwashed service record. Hikari's service record thus likely helped to get the promotion to captain. The FSS Iron Duke is thought to be the fastest ship in known space, as per the promotion notice.
