Several years ago, he lost his parents in a car accident while on a trip. Since then, he has lived with his sister and grandparents in a landlord's house. Tooru was an ace member of the archery club, but since his parents passed away, he has not been active in the club since he and his sister have been occupied with their own lives. To earn money for himself and his sister, he works part-time at a coffee shop owned by a woman close to their mother before her death.
